This shed was built around 1900 on the Hoge Berg near Oudeschild. Up till the 1930s, eelgrass was a highly sought after material. It was used, among others, for dike reinforcement, housing insulation and even mattress filling. The wet eelgrass was hung to dry in sheds and later pressed into bales. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In 1984, the eelgrass shed was relocated to the Museum Kaap Skil, and accommodates the remains of the 19th century fishing boat TX11. This boat, a blazer, was used to fish in the North Sea in the first half of the 1900s.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Texel eelgrass shed on the museum grounds is part of the Noordkaap building.
