Volunteers are very important for Kaap Skil. Thanks to them, the open-air museum bursts with activity.
The millers, the smith, the ropemakers, fish smokers, net-makers, ship model builders, shop ladies and beachcombers all contribute to the experience of how it used to be. They keep the old crafts alive and share their knowledge and stories with the visitors. Specially trained museum guides give presentations, such as by the model of the Roads of Texel and Jacob Haafner’s seaman’s chest.
