crafts festival
Today, crafts take centre stage at Museum Kaap Skil. In the open-air museum, various craftsmen will be at work between 13 and 16 hours and there will be a walk-in workshop in needle felting. So not only is there a lot to see, visitors can also get to work themselves!
Oudeschild is a real fishing village, where everything used to revolve around fishing. This time is revived in the open-air museum of Museum Kaap Skil, where a Skilder street from around 1900 has been reconstructed. When the craftsmen are at work, you get an even better idea of what it must have been like: rope makers set up their linery, fishermen sit in their gardens mending nets, the blacksmith makes new (ship) parts, fish is smoked, women spin, knit or run a shop.
