Archaeological finds are extremely fragile once they emerge out of the sediment. They can soon disintegrate due to exposure to light, oxygen, humans and fluctuations in temperature.

Artefacts are registered here and initial preservation is conducted. This includes desalination in freshwater, impregnation and gluing shards together. Sometimes you’ll find a restorer or collections staff member at work here.
